It happened in May…
The owner of 730 Alburger attended our May regular meeting and discussed his need for our support because he was turned down for a building permit he needs to construct additional bedrooms on the corner side of his property. His hearing is scheduled for June 21.
Apparently, he was found in non-conformance with zoning because of some combination of a non-permanently installed shed at the head of his driveway and the use of his driveway to park his car (or the depiction of such on the sketch plan).
To the extent that his plan would be completely permissible absent the movable shed or cars parked in his driveway, the body voted unanimously to support his plan for extending his home. The vote was amended to include a requirement that our zoning committee meet with immediate neighbors and ascertain their support or objection. During a visit by our Zoning Chair Carl Zadack, neither of the immediate neighbors had any objection and, in fact, supported the plan.
Calvary Lutheran Church came to tell us about preliminary work on a new sign in front of the Northeast Ave church. The church is also opening a day care which does not need zoning approval.
T-Mobile withdrew its plan for a cell phone tower after vigorous opposition from neighbors.
Developers have purchased three lots on Gregg St and want to put up townhouses. Neighbors were outraged, especially so after they promptly moved heavy equipment onto the property. The developer was told to meet with neighbors and get back to us in 2 months.
The body voted to send $100 to the memorial fund for Officer Gary Skerski.

update on 831 welsh…
The hearing on the garage has been continued to 8/9. Note: the permit for the extended kitchen was granted on 5/25. It did not require a hearing.
NOTE: Since the newsletter went to print, we learned that this is NOT TRUE.
Get well…
To Ed Comly, vet about town, who had a stroke. We expect to hear him back at our September meeting with all the updates he provides.
And to Mary Jane Hazell, president of Somerton Civic, who has been ill for a while now. We thought it was strangely quiet to the north! Get better!
September 11 memorial
Board member Barry Stucker wears another t-shirt once a year: He pulls together the Jewish Community at Temple Beth Ami and the Catholics of Maternity BVM and every other like minded member of the community to stand together and refuse to forget the horrors of 9/11.
Make sure you attend this important event where the community comes together as it rarely does.
Watch the local papers for the exact time of the service.
The executive board never takes a vacation
