Representatives of St. Thomas Church made a presentation about their property and changes they are making. They are working on landscaping pending approval of their plans by the state Department of Environmental Protection.
Councilman Brian O'Neill discussed the zoning changes on the west side of Bustleton, south of Fulmer. They were predicated by developers contacting residents. He said that every neighbor had been contacted about the change. One resident felt that we owed Councilman O'Neill an apology for insisting that he should follow the policies of the City Planning Commission for remapping areas. (See Remapping below.)
President Bernice Hill thanked State Rep. George Kenney for a $5000 donation, Councilman O'Neill for $1000, and American Heritage CU President Bruce Foulke for $200.
Remapping
Well before the March meeting, Councilman O'Neill introduced Bill 060182 on March 9. It will rezone the Bustleton neighborhood bounded by Verree, Charette, Alicia, and Marchman from R2 to R1. The hearing on that is April 24 at 11 am. Again, there was no public announcement or debate about the change in the fundamental use of private property. Presumably, every one of those owners also were told.
Now THAt's an anniversary!
Pennepack Baptist Church commemorates their founding 318 years ago with a celebratory service at 3 pm, Sunday, June 4 at 8800 Krewstown Rd.
If you have never been to the church, you are missing an important link to our past!
About the GBCL…
We are NON-POLITICAL. We do not endorse candidates. This does not mean that some active members do not have political ties and it certainly doesn't mean we don't vote or support candidates in our private lives!
Unless the body votes to suspend this rule, you MUST be a member to vote. If you haven't paid your dues by January, you are not eligible to vote until they are paid.
We expect decorum at the meetings and we expect people to be honest agents in their dealings at meetings.
As a general principle, we believe in solving problems rather than shifting a problem from one group to another or helping to create NEW problems in fixing the old one!
NOMINATIONS FOR EXECUTIVE BOARD:
The Nominating Committee is composed of Barry Stucker, Harry Citrino, and Isabel Ortiz. Nominations may be called in or made on the floor at the meeting. Nominations will close on April 26 and the election held in May.
Only dues-paying members may run, nominate, or vote. Nominees must have attended at least 2 meetings in the last year.
